Eco-communities as a social vision

Eco-communities as a social vision
Egalitarian and ecological communities, like the pictured East Wind (www.eastwind.org), are very close to our vision of an ecological society

Crime Of The Century, by Supertramp, album: Crime of the century, 1974

back in time for forgotten songs

Now they're planning the crime of the century
Well what will it be?
Read all about their schemes and adventuring
It's well worth a fee
So roll up and see
And they rape the universe
How they've gone from bad to worse
Who are these men of lust, greed, and glory?
Rip off the masks and let's see.
But that's no right - oh no, what's the story?
There's you and there's me
That can't be right

A song that probably refers to envrironmental destruction as the crime of the (20th) century. At first the singer seems to point at politicians and any kind of people with economic power to shape our lives: But the impersonal charges is the easy way to blame and the excuse for not taking personal responsibilities. So, if we take off the masks, we also see ourselves to be accomplices to the crime.
