Album: Jonah's Ark by Skyclad (1993) part 2

Bewilderbeast

See the brave toreador
just look at him thrive
Off the crowd as they roar.

For death brings a thrill
To the everyday lives of the
"non-com" observers
Who gloat and chastise
My mind can't believe we maintain
This barbarous blood thirsty game.

In their picturesque dwellings the aristo-classes
Spill blood that's not claret from cut-crystal glasses.
Never once pausing to contemplate why
For vanity's victories innocents die.

No better than bloodhounds
Hot on the scent
They butcher their prey
When its' energy's spent
My mind can't believe we maintain
This barbarous blood thirsty game.

Please show me this "sportsman"
You mention with pride
With his dog to defend him
And his gun at his side
If courage is the one thing
Your kind do not lack
Then why don't you hunt something
That can fight you back?

I see only cowardice ridden by guilt
And your hands won't wash clean of the blood they have spilt.
What measure of madness makes you all so ill
That your passport to pleasure's a licence to kill?

So I won't waste my time trying to understand why
For vanity's victories innocents die
'Cus you're all vicious bastards I'm sick of your crap
So I won't bat an eyelid when it's you in the trap.
I still can't believe we maintain
This barbarous blood thirsty game.

A strong accusation against the barbaric tradition of bullfighting. A remnant of old vain perceptions of human superiority, masculine bravery and roman bloodthirsty spectacles that survives as touristic attraction and profitable reasons of local lobbies. We read in INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT AGAINST BULLFIGHTS site:

Perhaps surprisingly in the 21st Century, bullfights still exist in several countries of the world, much to our shame in what we commonly regard as an "enlightened" era. These are barbaric shows, and relics of the Dark Ages.

Nevertheless, these spectacles still exist due to the powerful lobbies that support them. These lobbies maintain this bloody business for profit, at the cost of animals' pain, torment and death. They have the support of national and local governments, and receive backing from financial enterprises keen to promote their brands as having a "cultural" flavour, and from the fashion media who like to display "chic" images, regardless of the suffering involved. Despite the increase in public awareness in recent years, this minority continues to get rich by torturing bulls and horses. Several attempts to expand their dirty business to other countries are well known. Charitable bullfights to raise money for starving children of third world countries, and to fund research into serious diseases, etc, are blatant attempts to popularise their "sport" and give it a veneer of respectability. If this were not enough, even the Catholic Church does not condemn these acts. It's common to see bullfights in "honour" of saints carried out with the blessings of the clergy.

The truth is, if a creature suffers then there can be no moral justification for refusing to take that suffering into consideration. All animals are sentient beings that experience joy, happiness, fear and pain, in the same way that human beings do. We can have no right whatsoever to make them suffer for our "enjoyment". If any torture inflicted to an animal deserves condemnation, bullfights are the worst kind of torture since they are performed solely in the name of entertainment. We must end the animals' torture and stop these shows of brutality and violence. It is too small a step from the intentional infliction of pain on an animal to the torture and killing of human beings.

Jeremy Bentham once said: "It doesn't matter if they can reason; it doesn't matter if they can speak; what does matter is if they can SUFFER."

Earth mother, The Sun And The Furious Host

He was just a lad of fifteen years
Who barely fit his breeches
A latter day Dick Whittington
Who dreamt of fame and riches
His teachers took him to one side
And promised him the earth
When all he really wanted
Was a taste of wine and mirth.

They said "Attend our university
Accept responsibility
Chant our mantra of morality
Until your throat is sore."
A feast of knowledge this contrite
Could not supress his appetite
"Please sir I want some more and more..."

Christianity was apparent as a fallacy
The Devil take your Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The ones who have the answers
Are they who pipe the dancers
Earth Mother, the Sun and the Furious Host.

I'll give the whole nation
A sound education
Welcome to the school of hard knocks
Where the ones who know the answers
Are they that take their chances

For a small fish cast into an ocean
Full of unknown terrors
There's nothing much to smile at
In his comedy of errors.
Where streets aren't really paved with gold
And rags don't turn to riches
In this catalogue of disasters
The models were all bitches.

A Christ on every corner
For a coin he'll save your soul
But it's hard to be enlightened
While you're queueing for your dole.
When I think of all those shallow lies
They fed me in the past
There's one thing I must admit they've taught me...
That is how to laugh
At Christianity (it's nothing but a fallacy)
The Devil take your Father, Son and Holy Ghost
The ones who have the answers
Are they who pipe the dancers
Earth Mother, the Sun and the Furious Host.

This one's for the teachers
Who want to be preachers
Will God keep you warm
When you're cold?
You'd put those wracked by malnutrition
Straight onto your diet of superstition.

A song that reveals the fallacies of Christianity and the human arrogance that derives from religious perceptions of human superiority.

A Word To The Wise

From far outside
Earth's fragile atmosphere
It's clearly apparent that the end is near
The sleeper wakens and removes
His golden casque
Vital signs return to his quiescent craft.

He is truth - a word to the wise
Gods children are so young
They cannot realise
The difference between extinction
And life is now only a matter of time.

In the beginning was the knowledge
He had carried far across
The great unknown
Millenia have passed since he walked
On the savannah where the seeds
Of life were sown.
Yet even deep in slumber he could hear
His children blunder to destruction
The caretaker of creation placed a fail-safe
At the heart of his construction.

Technologies intended
As mans slaves mutated
Now they are his masters
The trust they place in progress
Only serves to bring
The last days nearer faster.

He is truth - a word to the wise
Gods children are so young
They cannot realise
The difference between extinction
And life is now only a matter of time.

I can see the oceans
Stagnent and overflowing
Filled with man made waste discharged
From my cosmic auditorium
I view this crematorium
That is your world at large
My ears hear the wailing of your children
In a future close at hand
Just as it was before - so it may be again
(If you don't try to understand)...
The seas will rise before your very eyes
Until they swallow up the land
If your polar ice caps melt
The cards are dealt
And you have died by your own hands
I will never help you while you still persist
In acting like you're blameless
I would rather let your species die forgotten
So your folly remains nameless.

He is truth - a word to the wise
Gods children are so young
They cannot realise
The difference between extinction
And life is now only a matter of time.

"When to mischief mortals bend their will
How quick they find the instruments of ill."

Another song that deals with human ignorance about their actions against environment and their impacts even towards their existence from God’s point of view.

It Wasn't Meant To End This Way

Sometimes I believe that we're already dead
Each day on the T.V. our last rights are read
Some fair weather oil tanker bleeding its' load
Powder keg powder plant ripe to explode.

Mister Prime Minister hear what I say,
Please Mister President listen I pray.
You have the influence and you have the power
To turn back the clocks on mankind's final hour.

When death is the helmsman who steers "Jonah's Ark"
Tomorrows an iceberg that lurks in the dark.
The band plays our song... it's the Funeral March.

Album: Jonah's Ark by Skyclad (1993) part 1

Cry Of The Land

Vibrant and real I lie
Mantled by the open sky
The wind and waves my lullaby
I am the land.

Why do you view me with
Eyes unable to see
The beauty in all that is pure
When it's left to live free?

So hot the fires within my breast
Rock and steel can't stand their test
Yet songbirds in my green beard nest
I am the land.

That which is so strong and old
Cannot be bought or sold
Mine is the green and gold
Wealth without end.

Ruled by the ebb of my oceans
Slaves to the dusk and the dawn
Your petri - dish civilisations
Are buried and born.

I watch as you live
With your heads in the sand
Unable to hear the cry of the land.

I was once a 'Happy Hunting Ground'
Then one day the eyes of science found
A blue - green planet
Spinning round a shining star.

The timeless giver of all life
Offered as a sacrifice
The priceless finds it's price
In the greed of man.

You bury your fears
And your heads in the sand
So you'll never hear the cry of the land.

A song that speaks from Mother Earth’s point of view, notifying the insignificance of human achievements and accusing their falsified values they follow or believe.

A Near Life Experience

Just a blank expression sitting in an easy chair
The living incarnation of a world that doesn't care
Mesmerized by media lies
Now they're "New and Improved" by a cunning disguise
It drinks their poisoned water
And thrives off noxious air.

The avant garde of apathy
Waits on the front line
Ever so patiently just biding its' time
They're an advertisers dream
With a greed habit
Their only fear is the fear
Of a green planet.

The avant garde of apathy
Looks after itself
Long past its sell by date
you're still preserved on the shelf
They'd rather ruin the world
Than let their children have it
Their only fear is fear of a green planet.

The avant garde of apathy
Vegetates undefeated
But if you don't want to join it
Then you're helping to beat it
Don't let the chance pass you by
You've got to reach out and grab it
Turn this world they have made
Into a green planet.

A song about the human apathy towards environmental and social issues. Their are only interest is a comfortable imitation of life and attack anything that destroys their nirvana. Their only fear is fear of a green planet! Indeed, they prefer extensive concrete cities and pollution instead of a small scale natural habitat in harmony with a green environment. This allenation is intensified by the fake plastic world showed by TV.

The Ilk Of Human Blindness

Midsummer 2045 they lay upon
The beaches burning
Insects on a ball of rock
Upon it's axis slowly turning
Steel and concrete melanomas
Punctuate the hot sunrise
Spines now chilled by global warming
Microwave their last goodbyes.

For sixty years or more they say
Mankind had known there'd come a day
When there would be a price to pay.
"Square Eyes" watched
The fools game show
The first to go and last to know
Sat eating junkfood on death row
(Feeding the fall of the human empire)

No prophet cast the money lenders
From their polystyrene temples
Noone heard the penny drop
All interest shown was incidental.

Pity the chairman of the board
For all these years he's piled his hoard
But penniless he'll meet the lord
As all the world prepares to die
He stands before the needles eye
Whilst countless millions pass him by
(Fleeing the fall of the human empire)

Recalling all those wasted hours
Of motions passed and minutes taken
Maybe now he feels remorse
For all the souls he has forsaken.

Silhouettes of living corpses
Remnants of a transcient race
March toward the red horizon
Evanesce without a trace.

The proud rub shoulders with the meek
On debris littered city streets
They fight like dogs for scraps to eat
The welfare state's in dissaray
All social order slips away
The "Primrose Path" lead to decay
(The Curtain falls on the human empire)

Codes of conduct redefine
As justice turns to legal crime
These monsters masked by human features
Are by far the blindest creatures.

An apocalyptic vision of total environmental destruction and decline of civilization and extinction of human beings. Neither prophecy or scientific evidence persuaded anyone or drove away human blindness. The time is come to pay the cost.

Tunnel Visionaries

(Narration)
Nobody could have conceived in the final decade of the 20th century
That our humble affairs were being manipulated by computer interface.
Not a soul could have summised that the lives of billions were of
Less consequence than a decimal point in the stock exchanges of the world.

Rare few even questioned the relentless exploitation of our rapidly
Dwindling natural resources. And yet across the polished boardroom tables,
Beings immensely more devious than ourselves surveyed this defiled planet
With jaundiced eyes, and swiftly and ruthlessly, they hatched foul plots
Against us.

we read in wikipedia:

Skyclad could very nearly be described as a protest band. Their lyrics deal with a wide variety of real-world themes (as well as more personal issues, though this was mainly under Walkyier) including poverty, drugs, environmentalism, politics, urban decay, paganism, society and commercialism. The band's polemics are often based on real experiences: In an interview, Walkyier recalled a point in the band's early days where his electricity meter reached 19 pence, and he was reduced to sharing cold baked bean sandwiches with guitarist Steve Ramsey. Skyclad's politics are generally left wing, with a strong working-class bent. Walkyier's writings for the band also show a particular fascination with sexually predatory women ("My Mother in Darkness", "Polkageist!", "Little Miss Take").

The band is noted for concealing the message of its songs somewhat in allusion and wordplay ("Womb of the Worm", "Vintage Whine"), though this has become less pronounced in later albums written by Ridley, who favours a slightly more straightforward style. Puns and wordplay, however, have become for many an integral part of the band, and there is no evidence that they have been entirely excluded.

Album: Emergency On Planet Earth by Jamiroquai (1993)

When You Gonna Learn

Yeah, yeah
Have you heard the news today?
People right across the world,
Are pledging they will play the game,
Victims of a modern world,
Circumstance has brought us here,
Armageddon's come too near,
Too, too near, now
Foresight is the only key
To save our children's destiny,
The consequences are so grave
So, so grave, now
The hypocrites we are their slaves.
So my friends to stop the end
On each other we depend,
Oh we depend.
Mountain high and river deep,
Stop it going on,
We gotta wake this world up from its sleep.
Oh people,
Stop it going on,

Yeah, yeah
Have you heard the news today?
Money's on the menu in my favourite restaurant,
Now don't talk about quantity,
There's no fish let in the sea.
Greedy men been killing all the life there ever was,
And you'd better play it natures way,
Or she will take it all away,
Don't try and tell me you know more than her about right from wrong,
Now you've upset the balance, man,
Done the only thing you can,
Now my life is in your hands,
Moutain high and river deep.

Oh yeah
Stop it going on,
We gotta wake this world up from its sleep.
Oh people,
Stop it going on,
Moutain high and river deep.

Oh yeah
Stop it going on,
We gotta wake this world up from its sleep.
Oh people,
Stop it going on,
Greedy men will fade away,
When we stop it going on,
I know it's got to be that way,
Oh people,
Stop it going on,

I'm asking, Oh
When you gonna learn
To stop it going on?
When you gonna learn
To stop it going on?
When you gonna learn
To stop it going on?

A call to awareness and action against all these hypocrites politicians, corporations who think that money is the only value in this world. But Nature must be the basis of our concern if we want to survive, because money are not edible when all fish and fruits and food disappears.

Emergency On Planet Earth

The kids need education,
And the streets are never clean,
I've seen, a certain disposition, prevailing in the wind,
Sweet change, if anybody's listening?
Emergency on planet earth.
Is that life that I am witnessing,
Or just another wasted birth.

Now, we got emergency
Oh, we got emergency on planet Earth
Now, we got emergency
Oh, we got emergency on planet Earth

Think we're standing for injustice,
White gets two and black gets five years,
Took me quite a while to suss this,
But now I know my head is cleared
And a little boy in hungry land, is just a picture in the news,
Won't see him in that TV advertising, 'cause it might put you off your food

Now, we got emergency
Oh, we got emergency on planet Earth
Now, we got emergency
Oh, we got emergency on planet Earth

Not only now a call to action, but an emergency call for the global problems we created (war, famine, pollution, will be inherited by future generations if we don’t act immediately)

Stop!!!

The lyrics of this song were written by Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys. It deals with the expansion of biotechnology companies and their social and environmental impacts. It also makes hints about the role of the science under the control of corporations. Let’s see things from the beginning, because the narration is quite interesting.

In the first verse there is sarcasm about the hypocrisy of luxurious environmental summits where pictures of poverty and misery must be hidden from view. Our leaders, those that are the only responsible for environmental destruction and world poverty didn’t want to see people’s problems at face. It’s not a surprise that no such summit has done anything important in order to reverse the environmental destruction, or to stop poverty.

But in reality, there are usually secret agendas to be dealt with, no matter what information reach mass media and TV channels. Many summits have to do with promoting business and making deals with multinational corporations for occupation of land and natural resources without asking the opinion or even caring about the participation of the mostly involved local people and tribes.

Exotic plants with medicinal substances were stolen, mines for ore-deposits cause deforestation but natives get nothing except their displacement and cultural destruction. Then, these stolen traditional medicine substances were treated chemically in order to be patented by corporations and sold at high prices, that poor people (ironically, the native tribes once only holders of traditional herbal medicine) can’t afford them.Genes by exotic species are used in order to create the so-called Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), a huge experiment with unknown consequences to environment, health and societies. Money-mad experiments with monsters-organisms designed only for profitable purposes and not for increasing food supplies. Biotech-Corporations like Monsanto design GMO-crops to be resistant in chemical pesticides that are produced and sold by them. Other GMO-crops are designed to produce pesticides by themselves. There is no concern about the nightmarish threat of release such genes to the environment and the forever pollution of normal (conventional or organic) crops. Their only concern is to increase their profits by taking all world food production under their control, enslaving farmers under binding contracts and completely destroying local traditional agriculture which has survived for thousands of years. The song also makes a statement that biotech is not bad per se, the only problem is that is in the wrong hands. That’s a very interesting question about the nature and form of science. Strict Marxism would say that GMO are good, but the profits and benefits must be shared to the people and not to the corporation. So science is good no matter what the object of research is. But these objects are determined by the interests of those who control science. So the GMO research under public control would be something quite different: for example, Biotechnology is also to cross plants by natural methods, biotechnology is to keep and use local varieties of seeds resistant to various climates, etc. The scientific discipline of production of organisms by direct modifications in the level of genes and DNA in order to satisfy certain and transient needs or purposes is something absolutely risky to our level of knowledge, so is bad science per se, no matter if an hypothetical social revolution expropriates corporations’ property and patents and share it to the public. People under true democratic constitutions would choose alternative and sustainable scientific methods to share equally the goods, not such risky ones.

Medicine also, today based in chemistry, would be completely different if it was not controlled by multinational corporations. We see that they stole exotic plants for the chemical treatment, extraction and isolation of the pure substance that considered the healing factor. Such a procedure usually produces toxic medicines and antibiotics with many side-effects to the patients. But that’s the only way to produce patents and something profitable. Original therapeutic practices, where the healing substances are in minute concentrations and in mutual interaction inside herbs, were ignored, like traditional no-drug medicine as well. Under public democratic control, any kind of alternative and friendly to the patient healing method would be developed, so the discipline of medicine would be quite different in many terms. It’s not only an issue of expropriating Bayer, or La Roche property and patents and give their toxic antibiotics with side-effects to the poor, because chemical-based medicine is not the only existing healing method. Its an issue of radical transformation of the discipline under a more democratic and ecological society.

We can say exactly the same concerning nuclear energy. The impacts of its use are huge and irreversible, so such a discipline (central distribution of nuclear energy supply) would not exist if people take life in their hands and seek for a variety of alternative energy supplies friendly to environment and society. But greed and need for political control and power promoted such scientific discipline and related inventions and no matter the terrible impacts of nuclear accidents and other issues (nuclear waste disposal), nuclear lobby today fights back.

In the end, the song wonders if these monstrous experiments have caused accidentally the spreading of deadly viruses like AIDS.

Kaiowas by Sepultura, Album: Chaos AD (1993)-part 2

This instrumental song is inspired by a Brasilian Indian tribe called "Kaiowas", who live in the rain forest. They committed mass suicide as a protest against the government, who was trying to take away their land and beliefs.

We can’t check the accuracy of this event as it is stated in this album, but it’s true that this tribe has the highest rate of suicides among all the displaced indigenous people in Amazon basin, especially in the period this instrumental song has been released (see bar chart below, click on it to enlarge). Also, being always in despair, these rainforest people have used occasionally the threat of mass suicide as mean of non-violent form of political pressure in order to save their culture and their lands. Let’s see some facts about this pround tribe:

Wikipedia
Guarani-Kaiowá are an indigenous people of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. They inhabit an area of tropical rainforest. This was declared a reservation in October 2004. Marcos Verón, a leader of this people was beaten to death in 2003.
The Guarani sub-groups have different ways of social organisation, but they share a religion which sees the land as very important. When invaders occupy the Guarani land, the Guarani feel as if their religion is offended, and when they lose their land to intruders they have too little land to sustain their traditional life, based on fishing hunting and farming.
….Today their land is stolen by loggers and miners. The Guarani are forced to leave their land and seek work on plantations, where they work as underpaid labourers. The Guarani of Mato Grosso do Sul are desperately campaigning to protect their land which is crucial for their survival.

Survival-International: Guarani Suicide Epidemic
Despair decimates the Guarani population

Once 1.5 million Guarani occupied a homeland of forests and plains totalling some 135,000 square miles in four South American countries. Today the 30,000 in Brazil are squeezed onto tiny patches of land surrounded by cattle ranches and vast fields of soya and sugar cane. For a people with such a strong emotional connection to the land, this has been incredibly traumatic: the Guarani in Brazil now suffer an epidemic of suicides unequalled in South America.

In the 15 years to 2000, over 300 Guarani killed themselves, mostly children and young adults. The youngest was Luciane Ortiz, aged just nine. For such a profoundly spiritual people, the theft and destruction of their land has been overwhelming.

'The Guarani are committing suicide because we have no land. We don't have space any more. In the old days, we were free, now we are no longer free. So our young people look around them and think there is nothing left and wonder how they can live. They sit down and think, they forget, they lose themselves and then commit suicide.'
Rosalino Ortiz, Guarani woman

'Suicides occur among young people because they are nostalgic for the past. Young people are nostalgic for the beautiful forests, they want to eat fruits from the forest, they want to go out and find honey, they want to use natural remedies from the forest. In Dourados where there have been most suicides a young person told me he didn't want to live anymore because there was no reason to carry on living - there is no hunting, no fishing, and the water is polluted.'

Guarani-Kaiowa:
Despair and Suicide
Perhaps the starkest example of the crisis of Indian lands in Brazil is the case of the Guarani-Kaiowa territory in the southern state of Mato Grosso do Sul, where over the past decade, over 300 Indians have taken their own lives in despair. Poverty, expulsion from traditional territories in recurrent disputes with wealthy ranchers, and the overpopulation of the remaining lands are the main factors leading this unique people to slow extinction. Today, over 22,500 Guarani-Kaiowas are pressed into a fraction of their original territory . 22 recognized areas near Dourados, a city on the Paraguayan border. In one village called Bororo, 3,700 are packed into 3,600 hectares, a veritable death sentence for a people accustomed to utilizing vast expanses of land for their sustenance.

The Associated Press (08-26-1998)
BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) _ Members of an Indian group in Brazil are threatening to commit mass suicide if authorities evict them from what they claim is their ancestral land, an Indian rights group said Wednesday.

About 100 Guarani-Kaiowa Indians occupied a ranch Tuesday in southwestern Mato Grosso do Sul State, 1,115 miles southwest of Brasilia, the capital. They say they will take their own lives if authorities try to dislodge them.

``Suicide has always been an option of the Guarani-Kaiowas,'' said Nereu Schnaider, of the Indian Missionary Council. ``They say the land belongs to them because their ancestors once occupied it.''
The 27,000-member tribe, one of the largest in Brazil, once held 40 percent
of Mato Grosso do Sul state. Today they occupy just 1 percent of the
140,000-square-mile state.

FIAN
Guarani Kaiowa – Malnutrition is killing indigenous children
For this people, the land where they live – the Tekohá – means “the place where we realize our way of being”, a social political space. In the early 20th century the Guarani-Kaiowás were enclosed in very small demarcated indigenous lands. Until the 70´s they were able to migrate to and find refuge in non-occupied lands. But with the progressive occupation of large extensions of the land in the region, including river banks, with the capital intensive production of soy beans, this space was progressively reduced. Since then, more and more indigenous families were forced into the limited demarcated land, seriously reducing their capacity to provide for themselves in terms of food, clean water, fuel for food production, medicinal herbs and increasingly worse sanitation conditions. In the 90`s a severe increase in the rate of suicides was observed as well as those of alcoholism.
In 2007, 76 indigenous people were assassinated in Brazil, out of them 48 were Guarani Kaiowas from Mato Grosso do Sul. Since 2005, 53 Guarani-Kaiowá children died of malnutrition, and presently there at least 600 others who present signs of malnutrition. The homicides, suicides, alcoholism, and malnutrition deaths are strongly linked to the limited extensions of land presently occupied by the Guaranis in Mato Grosso do Sul, and to their struggle against it.

Ιndians Invade Brazilian Ranches
Tuesday, 30 of December 2003

Thousands of indigenous Indians have invaded several farms close to Brazil's border with Paraguay in an attempt to reclaim ancestral land. Brazilian police said the members of the Guarani and Kaiowa peoples appeared with painted faces and bearing traditional weapons.
…….
Brazil's National Indian Foundation (Funai) says all the ranches are in an area covering traditional lands belonging to the two closely related tribes. The Indians have long been at odds with farmers who have moved into the area and now use the land for large-scale cattle-ranching.

Moving slowly in the sand
Knowledge is the weapon
Against the hunger in the land

Solitude met herself
Lessons from the primal step
Memories from an ending life
Liars can't stop the tribes

Brother is the son of rape
The blood that once unites
Wanna choose the way they die
Look inside their minds(echoes in the)

Actual tribe no longer sounds
The ancient teaching failed
Movement of my culture
My beliefs have no more tales

Who are you to criticize
To judge and burn the tribes
The world will be extinct
And your flesh will rot with mine

Souls At Zero by Neurosis, Album: Souls at Zero(1992)

No seed will grow of this barren earth. Our hope
unborn has died. I've slept in the dirt under the light
of the moon and I know our souls have perished.

Calling to those that would hear but I am deaf.
Clawing at those that would feel but I am dead to my
own fears.

Our cancer has grown into a stone. This water tastes
like poison. Your doomsday machine towers above
me to instill my vision.

Glowing pyre in the wind, like a glowing pyre in the
wind I stand to heal.

I tried to touch the feelings they have shown, our
cancer's grown into a stone. More cracks as our
ceiling caves in. This is our destiny.

These are visions, visions on.

Dilution of pain
Bleed incompetent reign
Life throught purity
Humanity maintained
It brings in hope of precious life
Answers agony divine

Push ill-thoughts
Of humanities decline
Finally, system feeds, travesties
Chokes life's inner sancity
Skeptically, you'll see,
Their lives ain't worth a dime

In the end, you and I will never see
Look as one one, upon this blasphemy
If I was you, I'd adjust my sensitivity
Blame or fault, question rationality
In the end, you and I will never see
Pain is small defy your own mortality
Run again, answers will be the same
Open your eyes and see it for what it is

Corporate science destroying lives in the benefit of none
Liberation from the foolish
Cash in cost, rhyme or reason ... no!

Displacement

No more...
Blind falsity
Tears left to see
Fear left in me
Pain inside me head
No more...
Corporate casualities
Progress, myths and lies

Would you, call upon a book of lies
Blame aside, watch you try and rationalize

Push walls to the threshold of pain

Genetics unmatched in the inhuman acts of capitalist fucks
Cashing grants, the majority obvious to pain and suffering,

Would you, fall from grace, desensitize
Crawl inside socially fed mass genocide

Would you, face the truth or capitalize
Falsify, bloodshot cracks in visions eye

Acid Rain by DRI, Album: Definition, 1992

Will our children look back
With hatred or despair
At a generation of idiots
Who just didn't care

About the fossil fuel fumes
And the aerosol sprays
That put holes in the ozone
And let in the rays

That can cause cancer in humans?
And what is it all worth
Heating up our globe
Destroying our own Earth?

What will they think
Of us with no concern
About the seas of shit
And radiation burn?

We who watched
The waters of the world
Turn to lakes of lava
Killing every form of life?

Will they have regrets
For being born at all
Into a world where only
Acid rain can fall

On all the empty fields
And on the vacant lots
Where cockroaches and crab grass
Are the only crops?

Acid rain dissolving away
The monuments of man
Run for your lives!

Acid rain
Smell the rain coming?
Acid rain
Run for cover now!
Acid rain
The water is on fire!
Acid rain

A song that speaks and accuses in generall about air pollution, focusing to acid rain and ozone hole.

Album: Still Life, by Antischism, 1992

"Path Of Destruction"

Are you proud to be a part of the force that tears life's fabric apart?
Do you feel no remorse at your little role?
Does a fear rest within at what time has in store for the ones who left
their roots behind and turned on the forces that gave them life?
A dischord has been created within Mother Earth,
In time to be exterminated as the laws of nature bring justice forth.

Path of Destruction
Path of Destruction
Path of Destruction
Path Of Destruction

With our gift of the intelligent mind, we misuse the power
use it as a knife that cuts the schism and bleeds the essence - life.
But with it too we will eventually die.
And for what? What is the purpose? Can it really be worth the consequences?
And for what? Tell me what is the purpose of our selfish indulgence?
Turn away from the path of destruction.
If there is a minute left for change we must then turn away from the path of destruction.
If there is a minute left for change then we must try!
Path of destruction.
The price is paid - irreversible decay.
Mankind's stain wiped away so that life can remain.
Payment for our crimes - witness the decline.
Just a matter of time.
The experiment has failed!
Somewhere down the back road behind the barbed wire,
hidden by trees it chokes,
a vile beast of smokestacks and fire.
Mass producing our chemical dependency then killing the junkies ever so slowly.
But for the masses our of sight is out of mind,
but several miles downstream that's where you will find...
Path of destruction.

A song similar those of Skyclad we performed two days before, and Sabbath's Children of the sea, showing us that the way we follow is the path of destruction and wondering if there is any hope left for reversing the stream.

"Greedy Bastards"

Let not another tree fall in the name of greed.
Not one more tribe "civilized" for the lust of money.
Not one more species forced extinct to to fill the pockets of the scum
who would turn something so majestic into just another slum.

No, the greedy bastard will not be satisfied
until every tree has been cut down and every animal has died.

Before every inch of forest is covered with concrete
extreme measures must be taken so let's fuck up their machines!
Greedy Bastards

Every dozer that we get costs them thousands to replace.
Every truck that gets fucked up is another loss that they must take.
When the logging road is blockaded, the fuckers can't get there
and when the trees have all been spiked the message sent is clear.

But the spirit of the wilds lives lives on yearning for the day
when we rid the land of those scheme to lay nature to waste.
Greedy Bastards!

A strong accusation against those who destroy nature for greed

"Flesh Of Another"

Am I wrong to call you a killer?
Then what's that meat laying on your plate?
Was that not once a living creature slaughtered to satisfy your crave?
Or is murder a word that you interpret as you see fit?
Was that meat not once alive until you paid someone to kill it?

Are there no alternatives to useless animal slaughter?
You choose to ignore them, like you ignore you conscience.

Can't say you care about people, can't say you care about anything,
What do you think you're doing? Pumping money into the meat industry?
Every single dollar, is a nail in a coffin.
You pay for starvation of entire populations.

You say "Other animals do it, therefore it's perfectly natural"
Take a tour of a slaughterhouse, tell me how you feel, once you see that it's a living hell.
The useless waste of precious life is anything but natural.
If you are the consumer, You're a killer.
You are the consumer, admit yourself a killer.
If you are the consumer, You're a killer.
If you are the consumer, You're a killer.

A song that accuses all people that eat meat. Personally we don’t support extreme vegetarians, but they have many points that we must take into account. First of all, as primates we are, meat isn’t our basic food, it is complementary in a basic diet of vegetative food. But the opposite happens: we see that meat is considered first class food, no matter the numerous diseases caused by this mistake (heart attack, stroke, cancer, fat, etc.) Also a meat-based food demands huge lands for animal foodstuff cultivation and grazing, especially in poor countries, owned by multinational corporations and ranchers, usually deforested or stolen with violent means from indigenous people by destroying their traditional agriculture and social network. All these fields would produce much more food if they are used for agriculture, so many social problems like starvation would be reduced.

So, our opinion is that vegetative food must be the main human diet and small scale stockbreeding and meat must reduced to secondary and complementary food.

Children of the sea by Black Sabbath, Album: Heaven and Hell, 1980

In the misty morning, on the edge of time
We've lost the rising sun, a final sign
As the misty morning rolls away to die
Reaching for the stars, we blind the sky, woah-oh, mmm

We sailed across the air before we learned to fly
We thought that it could never end
We'd glide above the ground before we learned to run. Run!
Now it seems our world has come undone

Oh they say that it's over
And it just had to be
Ooh they say that it's over
We're lost children of the sea, ooh, oh-ohh

We made the mountains shake with laughter as we played
Hiding in our corner of the world
Then we did the demon dance and rushed to nevermore
Threw away the key and locked the door

Oh they say that it's over, yeah
And it just had to be
Yes they say that it's over
We're lost children of the sea, oh

In the misty morning, on the edge of time
We've lost the rising sun, the final sign
As the misty morning rolls away to die
Reaching for the stars, we blind the sky

Oh they say that it's over
And it just had to be
Oh they say that it's over
Poor lost children of the sea, yeah

LOOK OUT! The sky is falling down
LOOK OUT! The world is spinning round and round and round
LOOK OUT OUT Out out! The sun is going black, black.
LOOK OUT! It's never never never coming back
LOOK OUT!

Back in time for one of Sabbath's best songs which we've just reviewed it and concluded that has many points which can be interpreted as a warning for total environmental destruction caused by uncontrolled technological progress that blinds our eyes with arrogance and not see that we are still dangerous beginners. It recalls back to the lost child age, when nature exploration by kids was pure and a game.

How Many People by Paul McCartney, Album: Flowers in the dirt, 1989

How Many People Stand In A Line?
How Many People Never Get A Chance To Shine?
If You Can Tell Me I'll Gladly Listen
How Many People Have Died?

One Too Many Right Now For Me
I Want To Be Happy, I Want To Be Free,
One Too Many Tight Now For Me
I Want To See Ordinary People Living Peacefully.

How Many People, Go For A Ride
How Many People, Never Make It Through To The Other Side?
If You Can Tell Me, I'll Gladly Listen,
How Many People Have Cried?

One Too Many Right Now For Me
I Want To Be Happy,
I Want To Be Free,
One Too Many Tight Now For Me
I Want To See Ordinary People Living Peacefully.

How Many People, Will I Take? How Many People
For Goodness Sake?
How Many People?
How Many People?
One Too Many ...

A song dedicated especially to Chico Mendez, the famous Brazilian rubber tapper and environmental activist who was murdered by ranchers because he was a constant obstacle against their deforestation activities. Murders or tortures of environmental activists, tribal leaders or guerillas (Zapatistas)is something common in the rainforests of Latin America by those who have interests in deforestation. So, we think that this song is also dedicated to all these victims of this low profile war, away from the interests of mass media, that's the reason why the song speaks in generality through the lyrics.
Twenty years will be completed this year after his assassination, so a small dedication to his memory and work is necessary.

“At first I thought I was fighting to save rubber trees, then I thought I was fighting to save the Amazon rainforest. Now I realise I am fighting for humanity”

Francisco Alves Mendes Filho, better known as Chico Mendes (December 15, 1944 – December 22, 1988), was a Brazilian rubber tapper and environmental activist. He fought to stop the fishing of the Amazon Rainforest to clear land for cattle ranching, and founded a national union of rubber tappers in an attempt to preserve their profession and the rainforest that it relied upon. He was murdered in 1988 by ranchers opposed to his activism.

Chico Mendes, was born in the Brazilian state of Acre, in a “seringal” (rubber tapper settlement) in Xapuri city, he started working as a rubber tapper when still a child.
His life as a union leader began with the foundation of the Rural Workers Union of Brasiléia, in 1975. In 1976, he was actively engaged in the rubber tappers’ fight against deforestation. He also organized several actions to defend the people’s right to land ownership. In 1977, he helped found the Rural Workers Union of Xapuri, and was elected City councilman for the political party MDB. He became the Xapuri Workers Union president, and kept that position until the time of his death.

Rubber tappers struggle, under his leadership, gained national and international exposure, strengthened by the proposal of the "Forest People Alliance”. This proposal aimed to unite the common interests of the indigenous communities and the rubber tappers in preserving the amazon forest as well as the creation of the extractive reserves in order to protect the indigenous areas and the forest, and ensure, at the same time, the rubber tappers’ agrarian reform.

In 1987, United Nations members met Chico Mendes in Xapuri, where they witnessed the extent of forest devastation and the expulsion of rubber tappers caused by projects financed by international investments. The financing to the devastative projects were suspended and Chico was accused by local ranchers and politicians of hindering the "progress ". Months later, Chico Mendes began to receive several national and international awards, such as the Global 500 prize by the UN, for being one of the persons that most stood out on that year in defence of the ecology.

During the year of 1988, Chico Mendes expanded his struggle through several areas of Brazil, by participating in seminars, lectures and congresses, where he could denounce the predatory actions against the forest and the ranchers’ acts of violence against the Xapuri workers. On the other hand, Chico was responsible for the accomplishment of a great dream: the implementation of the first extractive reserve in the State of Acre. The situation was the same everywhere; criminal violence from north to south of Brazil. Chico Mendes defended the thesis presented by the Xapuri Union, "In Defence of the Forest People", unanimously approved by the approximate 6 thousand delegates present. …On December 22, 1988, Chico Mendes was murdered at his home’s door. Chico was married and left three children.

The land and forest that Chico lived and died for is now the “Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve” covering 970.570,00 hectares. The international outcry caused by his assassination was an important factor in Brazil's decision to host the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. In 2004, the fish species "Astyanax chico", living in San Francisco river, Argentina, was named in honor to Chico Mendes.

Album: Wayward Sons Of Mother Earth by Skyclad, 1991

Our Dying Island

I woke from my daydream--discovered my nightmare was real,
At the altar of progress to gods of ambition we kneel,
Our database deities--they cannot save us,
Microchip miracles only enslave us.

The high priests of high finance claim that their actions are wise-
But our planet still dies. . .
It dies for the want of more people who care
'bout the poisons we pump in the seas and the air,

Yet blissfully ignorant--still unaware,
We strive for a future entwined with despair.
You say, Why waste concern on the rivers and trees-
-they belong to mankind to exploit as we please?

Face up to the fact that mankind's a disease-
-irrelevant microbes with colour T.V.s.
Tell me just what kind of fools would laugh and stare death in the face?

Only to worst kind of fools (like you and I -the human race).
If we laugh for long enough it could well be our epitaph,
Mother Earth will laugh the loudest -She will have the final laugh.

BUT WAIT--the time has come to realise,
BELIEVE--the truth our eyes will not disguise.
SPEAK OUT--to say, It's no concern of mine,
DECEIVED--is to be party to the crime.

We all toe the line and swallow the lies-
-and our island dies.
Let computers dictate our emotions--determine the way we should feel.
Turn our backs to the future now our days are numbered,
And where will we run to when this world is plundered?

Your conscience a whisper drowned out when your avarice cries-
And humanity dies. . .
Without hot winds or tower blocks crashing-
-no silver-lined mushroom clouds herald man's passing,

From the Garden of Eden--into death everlasting,
Such a high price to pay for what we took without asking.
Stupidity's legacy is passed down the years-
-as our knowledge increases dispelling the fears

That the ghosts of the past may again reappear-
-as the dawn of the silent apocalypse nears.
Tell me just what kind of fools would laugh and stare death in the face?
Only the worst kind of fools (like you and I--the human race).

If we laugh for long enough it could well be our epitaph,
Mother Earth will laugh the loudest--She will have the final laugh.
(The advent of insanity--no future for humanity.
You pander to your vanity--it blinds you to reality.
In temples of indifference we hail the gods of ignorance,
And sacrifice our final chance--behold the death of innocence.)

BUT WAIT--the end is near so we must choose,
BELIEVE--that we have everything to lose.
SPEAK OUT--if empty words are all we're worth,
DECEIVED--it is the end for Mother Earth.
We all toe the line and swallow the lies--and our island dies.

If we think the world is our oyster we'll surely choke on the pearl,
It is ours for a while to respect not defile--but minds drunk with power still whirl.
The lands we dispute are not ours to pollute--neither the air that we breathe,
But how will we ever see reason when we can't see the wood for the trees.

Now we hold the future in the palm of our hand--place your faith
In 'Rainbow Warriors' not castles of sand,
The hourglass is empty time is slipping away-
-so prepare your excuses for the Judgement Day.

Court is now in session--Mother Nature presides,
The jury are our children--whose futures we've denied.
The evidence conclusive--we have no alibi,
The victim was our planet--the verdict: MATRICIDE.

BUT WAIT--the time has come to realise,
BELIEVE--the truth our eyes will not disguise.
SPEAK OUT--to say, It's no concern of mine,
DECEIVED--is to be party to the crime.

BUT WAIT--the end is near so we must choose,
BELIEVE--that we have everything to lose.
SPEAK OUT--if empty words are all we're worth,
DECEIVED--it is the end for Mother Earth.

The Cradle Will Fall

A species in its infancy--a living idiosyncrasy,
This 'naked ape' believes itself divine.
Assured of its supremacy--it dreams of immortality,
The first words that it speaks--This world is mine.

But the time has come for us to realise,
That the animal instincts we deeply despise-
Are far more civilised than humanity.
Mankind has lived to curse the day it climbed down from the trees,

But still we keep our heads held high whilst crawling on our knees.
I hope I never live to see the 'perfect' world you crave,
Where ambition is the burden we shall carry to our graves.
We think that we are so superior--for in God's image we were made,

All other life we deem inferior--there to exploit, kill or enslave
No amount of remonstration could ever show a mind so small
that it is not 'the be and end all.'

Into the future we race driven on by our greed,
Like rats in a maze we will never be free.
Science is the 'new-religion'--scaples slash dissecting truth and reason,
Behind locked doors where no-one sees.

Down evolution's one way street mankind pursues his dream,
Of a race conceived in test tubes with the same designer genes,
But like a child who tries to run before it learns to crawl--
he'll go crying to his 'Mother' when he sees the cradle fall.

I am human--I was made to be the ultimate machine,
With the power at my fingertips to realise my dream.
Homo-sapiens--the 'master-race,' Nature's pride and joy,
Taking all the world will give me--what it won't I shall destroy.

In our hearts we yearn to be immortal--conquer all sickness and disease,
Create a world where even death's not fatal--then we can shape our destinies.
A populace of plastic people live genetically pre-programmed lives-
-and no-one laughs and no-one cries.

Blinded by science the masses are duped and deceived,
By the faces that smile from their colour T.V.s.
They'll steal your dreams--remove them surgically (but leave you scars so deepand lasting),
God is dead man has surpassed him.

Like children in our playground--we contrive such foolish games,
But fail to see the consequence of suicidal aims.
No matter how we bend the rules there's no way we can win,
Not even pleading Ignorance will vindicate our sins.

I am human--I was made to be the ultimate machine,
With the power at my fingertips to realise my dream.
Homo-sapiens--the 'master-race,' Nature's pride and joy,
Taking all the world will give me--what it won't I shall destroy.

Mankind a babe-in-arms,/Believes he's come of age-
And reaches for the stars,/With one foot in the grave.

I am human--I was made to be the ultimate machine,
I am human--I have the power to realise my dream.
I am human--an automaton--a mindless 'technoslave,'
I am human--I am servant to the monsters I have made.

maybe the most eco-philosophical band which focuses, not only in certain environmental issues but looks into things more deeper by examining the human selfperception and his consequent attitude towards nature, the so called superiority feeling because of technology achievements, the greed and his ignorance of what really we are, totally suspended beings by the biosphere functions and earth vital sources are limited.

Album: out of order by Nuclear Assault 1991

Two songs with no direct reference to environmental issues, nevertheless they are included as of paramount importance in any Green political agenda or declaration.

Doctor Butcher

Woke up one night with this fierce pain in my chest
Didn't know what to do, couldn't even rest
Ran down to the doctor's office to see where I stand
He checked me out and said "take this medicine, you'll be alright"

The doctor is a butcher
He'll give you some medicine just to suit you
The doctor is a butcher
He'll give you any medicine just to get rid of you

The nightmare wasn't over, I was stooped over in pain
And taken to the emergency room
Waiting for two hours, by the time they got to me
I passed out, felt like I was flushed down the drain

Somebody help me, please get me the right doctor
I'm sick of being used as an experiment

The doctor is a butcher
He'll give you some medicine just to suit you
The doctor is a butcher
He'll cut you up anytime, just to get his kicks

Woke up one night with this fierce pain in my chest
Didn't know what to do, couldn't even rest
Ran down to the doctor's office to see where I stand
He checked me out and said "take this medicine you'll be alright"
But he was wrong

Another song from the same band about the cruel medicinal methods of conventional medicine in contrast with the holistic approach of the patient by the alternative medicine. We discussed this theme again here and here.

Hypocrisy

The righteous gather to deliver judgement
Never caring for the needs of the poor
Are you pro-life when you bomb their clinics
Killing the unborn and the born
It's also a sin to use protection
Or that is what you have us believe
You don't care 'cos it doesn't affect you
You're too fucking old to conceive

Wallow in hypocrisy
Wallow in hypocrisy

From where I stand and hear you talk, it really makes me sick
What's even worse is people seem to listen to these hicks
A woman's body's not your province, none of your concern
So go back to your bible belt, you've got a lot to learn

Abortion's not the answer either
Is it fair for you to say
That she should go through pregnancy
So a total stranger can take it away
Why don't you just mind our business
Leave the rest of us alone
'Cos I don't care about the bible
Or what your holy pope condones

Wallow in hypocrisy
Wallow in hypocrisy

From where I stand and hear you talk, it really makes me sick
What's even worse is people seem to listen to these hicks
A woman's body's not your province, none of your concern
So go back to your bible belt, you've got a lot to learn

The righteous gather to deliver judgement
Never caring for the needs of the poor
Are you pro-life when you bomb their clinics
Killing the unborn and the born
It's also a sin to use protection
Or that is what you have us believe
You don't care 'cos it doesn't affect you
You're too fuck old to conceive

From where I stand and hear you talk, it really makes me sick
What's even worse is people seem to listen to these hicks
A woman's body's not your province, none of your concern
So go back to your bible belt, you've got a lot to learn

Wallow in hypocrisy
Wallow in hypocrisy
Church and state conspiracy
Wallow in hypocrisy
Barring any leniency
Wallow in hypocrisy
Ancient in their dormancy
Wallow in hypocrisy
They wallow in hypocrisy
Wallow in hypocrisy
Hypocrisy
Wallow in hypocrisy

Global Warming

Few care about environment in the USA
Propaganda controls,
Pollutants in the atmosphere,
Malathion in our air
Mutant race developing,
Hypodermic sewage on shorelines,
Oil spills in the sea
Marine life disappears,
Extermination we contend,
Vanishing life we see
Reality's nightmare,
Environment litigations,
Hazardous contamination
Lost cause situation,
Power plants pump the waste,
Dump sites overwhelm
Wildlife deteriorating.
Cars polluting/All our air/
Smog fills / Our lungs to hell
Politicians/Don't really care/
End this crisis
They never will.
Rapid pollution of the sea
Sewage falling out of greed

Global warming! Nationwide situation
Harmful waste! Nuclear cultivation
Garbage overflows...
...From land to shining sea
We deserve what we create,
In the Land of the Free
Toxic waste, generation harvest
Carbon dioxide in the air
That we breathe
In the air that we breathe!

Global warming! Nationwide situation
Harmful waste! Nuclear cultivation
Nitrogen oxide, cancerous affliction
We deserve what we create
In the Land of the Free

Ultra violet/Radiation/
Groundwater/Contamination
Oil refineries/ Spew the carbons/
Lung damage
Ozone depletion!

Global warming...
...Making profits all they care
Global warming...
...Clean air act is not enough

Another song about global warming, it’s impacts and it’s causes, many years before it became first topic in the news and in political agendas, in a period when it is only discussed by scientists of ecological groups and few were concerned about.

Process Elimination

Black moon is on the rise,
Air raid the sirens sound,
Population in despair,
Warlords they sit and laugh,
Chemical rain upon the earth,
Invisible killers path,
Melting minds in demise,
Hear the human cries...

Radiation's coming
From the nuclear blast
Lurking into cities,
Darkness in the skies
Feel the wrath upon us,
Sudden thunder roars
Armageddon warriors
Now survive the war.

The sea turns to blood
Pain and hunger control us,
Psychic warfare in combat,
Burning sensation's in the air,
Our leaders power play,
With strategic codes to gain,
Computers homicides,
Programming nations end of time.

Radiation's coming
From the nuclear blast
Lurking into cities,
Darkness in the skies
Feel the wrath upon us,
Sudden thunder roars
Armageddon warriors
Now survive the war.

Process Elimination...
...Process Elimination
Process Elimination...
...Process Elimination

You will cry out...once you find out...
Slow death...preparesfor...
Left behind...deteriorate...

Kings of the east launch their attack,
Missiles cover the atmosphere,
Acid fog roams the land,
Deteriorating bodies of the damned
Shear terror grips thy soul,
Revelation takes its toll,
Bite your tongue in pain,
As the world burns in flames!!!

Radiation's coming
From the nuclear blast
Lurking into cities,
Darkness in the skies
Feel the wrath upon us,
Sudden thunder roars
Armageddon warriors
Now survive the war.

Thin Green Line

So here we are - a thin green line
Into the nineties, runnig out of time
Extinction of our planet has already begun
but don't let them tell you nothing can be done

Some of us are angry & fighting back
Non-violent direct action is a means of attack
No, we're not giving up without a fight
No nuclar plant here - we're going to trash the site

Gotta be honest, gotta be blunt
If we really want to stop them we've got sab the hunt
Smash that bulldozer, watch the flames go higher
Pull the plug & cut the wire

We get beaten up & send to jail
But I don't care if that's what it takes to save the whales
Save our Earth, save the wilderness land
Are you for us or againts us? Time to make your stand

See that whaling vessel sinking into brine
Taken out by a limpet mine
See those trees standing so tall They've been spiked so they won't fall
See that excavator going up in smoke

Sugar in the petrol tank - that's no joke
Ecosabotage in the dead of night
Like mushrooms break through concrete in the moonlight

Victim Of A Chemical Spillage

Safety rules - corners cut
Just to keep the profits up
Money saved - profits rise
But consequence is someone dies

Victim of a chemical spillage

Safety regulations breached
Critical concentrations reached
Money is saved but a live is lost
Loved ones left to count the cost

Tanker crashin the village
Death could from the spillage
No escape from the fumes
Peoples' homes become their tombs

In the face of corporate greed
Ecodefence is what we need
Read and act upon this text
Or you become the next victim of a chemical spillage

Never forget that one thing that motivates big business is profit. As far as the multinationals are concerned, there is nothing that they will not destroy in their insane drive for increased takings: forests, meadows, rivers, the sea - even their own employees are all seen as expedable. This kind of omnicidal madness is killing our Earth and can only be stopped by mass direct action. Anyone who advocates this of course is branded as an extremist - Yet what could be more extreme than the mass poisoning and polluting of our planet, the destruction of huge areas of rainforest and the wholesale slaughter to extinction of vast numbers of species of animals? It's time to stand up and be counted - If you're not part of the solution. You're part of problem. No compromise on defence of our Earth

Whale Song

Once this magnificent animal swam freely in the seas
But now held captive for human greed.
A miserable "life" behind bars and concrete walls
No companion killer whales to hear its calls.

Yes. I'm sickened by what I've seen
And the mass Faroe Islands pilot whale slaughter is Obscene.
My eyes don't easily fill with the tears
But when I watched those whales scream and die
The tears ran freely from my eyes
To see them murded, hacked apart
Was like something tearing indide my heart

Yet one day such creatures might all swim free
Peaceful coexistence - no fear, no need to hide
Ourselves and whales together side by side

What have we done

I'm lost for words when I think of the depths to which we sink
Sometimes there just seem to be no depths to which our species will not sink. Surely, in this day and age, we should be seeking to establish meaningful and constructive relationships with other higher intelligences like dolphins and whales. Instead, however, we seen intent on either exterminating them or roping them in to our sick, perverted power games. How anyone can take friendly, playful wild dolphins and cold-bloodedly turn them into drug addicted killing machines is almost beyond comprehension. Yet people do it.
Cold death flies from harpoon gun - The sea turns red - What have we done?
A horrific death by harpoon - Scientific research? Blue whales, the largest animals on the Earth, have already been hunted to virtual extinction while sperm whales (who are also highly intelligent creatures with complex social organisation and even their own culture) have found themselves bruttaly slaughtered by rich scum like Aristotle Onassis, the sick evil scumbag who even went so far as to use the penises of sperm whales to make his luxury yacht's bartools.
Poison and kill - We are the ones - See what we do - What have we done?
Not content with exterminating the most intelligent form of marine life, we are also doing a pretty good job of killing everything else in the sea as well. Radioactive waste, oil slicks, heavy metals, chemical spillages - We're turning the oceans into radioactive cesspit. There are already upwards of fifty nuclear warheads and nine nuclear reactors lost on the seabed. Pollute and kill - Is that all that mankind can do?

World Park Antarctica

I asked them why the wilderness had to die
Their replay to me showed the reason was naked greed.
Mass action could stop them - But you've got to start it
World Park status for the Antarctica.
They rape and plunder whatever they find - Sea polluted and minerals mined. Poisoned animals slowly die as they suck Antarctica dry.
Cumoan chris - Gie it laldy ya raj!!
And the factory ships set sail - A death sentence for the whale
And as the sea turns to red yet more life blood is shed.
Park proposals are greeted with mirth by those who rape our Earth
So will you really just stand by and watch the last great wilderness die?
Antarctica - twelve million square kilometers of the last almost untouched wilderness left on Earth. It is thus vital that it is protected from greed of those who would turn it into a vast open-cast mineral mine. Unchallenged, such commercial exploitation will simply kill this continent. Toxic waste will be pumped into the seas (as the Americans are already doing at their base at McMurdo Sound), rubbish will be simply thrown away and the inevitable oil disasters similary to the Exxon Valdez in Alaska will ruin the coastal ecology. Then, goverments and multinationals will move on, leaving it poisoned and scarred - Only one thing stands in their way - You.

Five songs about environmental issues in an album dedicated to the defence of our Earth. The majority of these songs have extensive narrative parts, so our comments are superfluous. We only notify the first song "Thin Green Line" about the non-violent action and ecosabotage which were classified as "terrorism" in USA, under a totalitarian policy against green activistic groups which reminds Macarthism against communism in 50s.

One of these songs is called "Stop the vivisection now", but we couldn't find the lyrics. Vivisection is a cruel, unscientific practice against animals and sometimes involves health hazards to patients. But it continues to exist because of many purposes (investments, carriers, avoidance of responsibility, etc), but especially because of humans' superiority attitude towards other forms of life. You can read more about this fraud of animal experimentation in the following websites:
